YORUM1:If you're a busy medical student who has much less time than you feel you need to study for Step I, this is the book for you. Similarly, if you're the kind of person who struggles with multiple choice exams, you'll love this book. Overall, anyone who takes standardized exams would benefit greatly from reading this book. And it takes only a few hours to read it cover to cover! I wish this book had been required reading before even registering for Step I.

I can personally say that the method outlined in this book is a career-saver. While I tended to do well in classes and on non-standardized exams, I always felt that my performance on standardized exams never reflected my actual knowledge. After struggling with and then failing : ( Step I, I used the method taught in this book and the results were amazing. I not only passed Step I, but I landed in the competitive score range! And the method sticks with you! I can tell you that by using this method, I passed Step II with flying colors with very little time to prepare.

The method seems deceptively simple, but is very effective. Of course it doesn't do the work for you, but it creates a structure that keeps you on track time-wise and systematically addresses weakness in YOUR knowledge base in a very personalized way. It also addresses the test anxiety and lack of confidence that people experience once they have been labeled "poor test-takers," whether by others or by themselves.

The book does not contain actual study content. Rather, it outlines the day by day study schedule and learning techniques that allow you to use the sources already you have to more effectively extract maximum benefit. All you really need is a good question bank and the willingness to just go forward. Happy studying and good luck!

Yorumlar:

Yorum 1: This book is a life saver for ANY student taking standardized exams. I think it is a simple way to study for step 1, step 2; for interns taking step 3 with little time to study and even for premedical students taking MCAT. I actually recommend reading this book prior to medical school. I wish I had read this book before medical school. The method in this book is simple yet highly effective. It helps you focus on what you don't know. Since what you don't know is different from anyone else, you get to work only on weakness specific to you. I have tried the methods suggested in this book on my Step 1 and 2 exams. IT REALY WORKS! When I used the methods suggested on my step 1, step 2 did not feel like `such monster.' It was more like `ok! I have to just find a block of time and study.' YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK if you are worried about boards as much as I was.

Yorum 2: This book even helped during my regular semester exams! Fantastic resource, combine it with the First Aid Question book.
