Scramble Tips for Applicants
This communiqué is to educate applicants about how ERAS may be used during the 2011 Scramble period.
Receiving this communiqué does not imply anything whatsoever about your NRMP Match status.
Scramble 2011
12 p.m. ET, Tuesday, March 15 – 12 p.m. ET, Thursday, March 17
Note: The MyERAS Web site will be open prior to 12 noon ET on Tuesday, March 15 to allow applicants to
prepare their application for Scramble.
Before Scramble
To prepare for Scramble please do the following:
• Access MyERAS and confirm that the information in your Profile is up-to-date.
• Check your account history for confirmation that previously submitted payment(s) have been
received and processed.
Note: Applicants with outstanding balances will be locked out of ERAS during Scramble.
• Review your Personal Statement to see if you should create a new one for Scramble.
• Do not apply to programs unless you wish to be charged for those submissions.
Note: To participate, applicants must have applied to and paid for at least one ACGME-accredited program.
Applicant accounts must be paid in full by 3 p.m. ET, Friday, March 11, 2011.
During Scramble
Contacting Programs
Program directors have been advised to post a voicemail or reply e-mail message outlining the necessary
steps you need to apply to their program.
Applying to Programs
Use the ACGME ID of each unfilled program provided on the NRMP's Dynamic Unfilled List to search for and
select programs quickly. Be sure to assign documents prior to applying. Click Apply to Programs and an
invoice with zero ERAS fees will appear. Once these programs appear on your Programs Applied To list, you
know your applications have been transmitted.
Reapplying to Programs
If you wish to reapply to a program during Scramble that you previously applied to, click Reapply to
Programs tab. Mark the check boxes in front of the programs where you wish to reapply. Once you click on
the Reapply to Programs, the applicable programs will show up under the Programs Applied To tab with a
reapplied notation next to them.
USMLE/COMLEX Transcripts
NBME, NBOME and the ECFMG will process transcript requests received during the Scramble period.
Applicants who have already transmitted scores via ERAS will not incur additional transcript fees. Applicants
who did not previously request transmission through ERAS will be charged the $70 transcript fee.Scramble 2011 - Tips for Applicants

Applicant Document Tracking System (ADTS)
During Scramble, there will be a special Scramble edition of ADTS called ADTS Lite that will let you know
whether programs have downloaded your application.
• ADTS Lite will be available from 12 p.m. ET – 5 p.m. ET, Tuesday, March 15.
• You will have the ability to view two statuses: “Application has been uploaded to the ERAS PostOffice”
and “Application has been downloaded by the program”.
• Normal ADTS functionality resumes after 5 p.m. ET, Tuesday, March 15.
Post Scramble
At 12 p.m. ET, Thursday, March 17, the Scramble period will end. Any programs applied to after that time
will incur regular ERAS fees. If you do not locate a residency position during Scramble, consider our sister
service, FindAResident (FAR) www.aamc.org/students/residents/findaresident/ .
